We’ve got your daughter.

It's evening, you're back late from work – and the house is in darkness.

You step inside, and the phone rings. You answer it - and your world turns upside down.

Your fourteen-year-old daughter's been taken, and her kidnappers demand half a million pounds in cash. They give you 48 hours to raise the money, and warn you that if you call the police, she'll die.

Trying desperately to remain calm, you realise that your husband – the man you married only two years previously – is also missing.

But he can't be involved in your daughter's abduction. Or can he?

As your nightmare begins, you can be certain of only two things: that you will do anything to get your daughter back alive - and that time is running out...

A very good book by anyone's standards but not my favourite of Simon Kernick's - I think I prefer them from a man's perspective. My older brother really loves this book though.

Just been introduce to the works of Mr Kernick - via an audio edition of DEADLINE!
Having been moved to the Midlands for the last 20+ years it was interesting to hear the story set in my old "patch"! I could vividly capture the locations (I remember driving down some of those routes...!) And my other half is keen to read the book now, being a Spurs fan and having lived in Lordship Lane. And the story ends at Kenwood House - where "OUR" story began 30 years ago! Can't wait to read the other books!

Just finished reading 'Deadline' and all i can say is WOW. What a great read it was. the story was so fast paced and riviting - i could not put it down and read it from cover to cover in just over 3 days. This is the first of Simon Kernicks books i have read, and i am certainly going to read more. Keep up the great work.

I admit it. I am not really into thrillers anymore. I think that my interest for this genre is not as high as it was when I was 15 or 16. Too bad. However, I decided to pick this up, maybe thinking my passion for this genre would grow up one more time. Too bad it didn't happen. Deadline is Predictable. Veeeery Predictable. It has the typical Stereotyped with some absurd behaviours. Noir Cliches. In my opinion this is Dull. Sorry Mr Kernick, but I can't leave behind the feeling your book is not worth the 6.99 pounds I' ve spent. Average thriller, good to read when you are at the beach wondering what to do. Nothing more. This is not the kind of thriller I've been looking for, the one that absorbs you into the story, that twists you, the one that makes you wonder: "What Is Gonna Happen Now?". that's why I won't assign more than 2 stars, but only because of the plain and simple style which allows it to be a good pageturner. Sorry. Hope you'll post this review on your website, Nico, an italian reader.

Having not been a massive book fan I finally decided to start reading. My father in law lent me a number of books, this being one of them. This is the first one I picked up and from the very first page I was hooked, having a read at every available oppurtunity. Great story, great characters, i'll definately be reading other books by Simon Kernick

have read all your books from relentless after it was reviewed on tv. absolutely brilliat stories that have a real fast pace and really immerse you in the story so you really feel a part of it. really looking forward to getting target and hoping to find your first four books! i wasn't really a thriller reader until i read relentless and i couldn't put it down, i was totally hooked from the first page and it's been that way for each of your books i read. simon kernick has a rare talent in being able to totally immerse you into the story. if you haven't read his books yet go and find one in your nearest bookshop and feel a part of the action! A CRACKING READ HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Deadline was the first book by Simon Kernick I'd read, and I loved it. I hardly put it down, and read it in a very short space of time. That was a few weeks ago, since then, Ive been been working my way through Kernick's other books, and each one is a gem. I really cant recommend his books enough.
