Did someone try to kill me or am I going mad?
When writer Rob Fallon gets drunk one night and ends up joining his best-friend's girlfriend, Jenny, in her apartment in London's West End, he's feeling guilty before anything's even happened. But guilt quickly turns to shock when two men break into the apartment, abduct Jenny, and try to kill Rob.
But when Rob reports the abduction to the police no one believes him. Jenny's father claims she's on holiday abroad, her apartment appears untouched, and the doorman didn't see or hear anything.
Rob can't let things lie - not with Jenny's life in danger. But when he starts asking questions, he finds himself the target of killers . But what is it they're so desperate to hide? And what does it have to do with an ordinary girl like Jenny? Either Rob finds out, or he's dead. It's that simple ...

This is the first of Simon's books that I have read...thought that Rob Fallon was well portrayed as what he was, a bit of a dip-stick, and his demise , while a plot-shock, probably was inevitable, at least it allowed the final chapters to quicken in pace...some of the language style seemed out of place, almost 'Boys Own style' in an otherwise well constructed beleivable plot..just enough intrigue in this story to encourage me to look at another of his titles..

The second Kernick book I've read after Relentless... and I have to say I think I preferred it. I loved the fact that I thought "didn't see that coming" a few times whilst reading it and it kept me interested all the way to the end. Great reading... Simon kernick is my new Dean koontz :)

What a fantastic book!! Excellent use of 1st and 3rd person writing. The only bit I didn't understand was Rob reminding the readers that his phone was still in his missing jacket and then minutes later receiving a call on a mobile? Where did it come from? I thought the story line and twists were fantastic!!!! Well done Simon

I love this book! I'm so sad that not all your books are available in German.

I'm sorry, but this was dreadful. Read Ian Rankin or Val McDermid and learn how your craft should work.

Read Target twice this week and I have to say its brilliant, This is the first novel I've read from Simon Kernick and cannot wait to read the rest, however I was disappointed like everyone else that poor Rob Fallon got killed! But it added to the suspence! Excellent work Mr Kernick!!

Throughly enjoyed Target, having atlast found it in the local library but please can someone explain how Rob Fallon, on page 77 of the hardback, goes walking in the woods and, one paragraph after reminding us that his mobile is missing, gets a call on it?

I enjoyed Target very much, but could Simon explain how the main character can write much of the book in the first person and then be killed off? It doesn't seem to add up old mate!

***WARNING*** CONTAINS SPOILERS*** Was really loving this book! It was maybe my favourite of Kernick's so far...Until he actually went and killed off the main character! How lame was that! He'd developed him nicely, we really had started to empathise with him and then bang! He's gone! And noone really seemed to care...LAME. Why does Kernick seem so averse to endings that are even marginally happy! It made me sad ;( x

Target - a stunning read! I went years without really reading anything, then stumbled across Relentless at Gatwick Airport prior to flying to the US. Almost finished the book by the time we arrived there - just found it impossible to stop reading. Have read all the other books since and loved every one. Fantastic, frantic, edge of your seat novels. I know this just echos other comments, but I literally can't put the books down! Even my Dad, who isn't exactly known to want to sit and read, has been engrossed by each book. Can't wait for 'The Last 10 Seconds'.
